Lighting that elevates brand identity & materiality

In retail, lighting does more than illuminate product — it expresses identity, enhances experience, and guides the customer journey. At 18 Degrees, we design lighting that reflects each brand’s tone and values, adapting to different formats, locations and use cases from global rollouts and flagship stores to boutiques.

RETAIL
Retail lighting must achieve precision, ambience and consistency. From window displays and joinery details to full-store schemes, we help brands communicate clearly through light to showcase products, invite interactions and complement design language. Whether launching a new flagship or fine-tuning an established identity, our work helps retail spaces connect with people and stand out.

JING Tea’s first brick and mortar store in St Christopher’s Place, underlines the warmth and purity of the brand, creating an immersive retail environment where tasting and shopping experiences seamlessly blend. Early prototyping of the lighting allowed us to closely integrate our design with the joinery and architectural fabric of the building.
Layers of calm, warm toned lighting and dimmable scenes transform the store after dark into an intimate event space where customers can learn about and taste the teas on offer, deepening their connection with the ritual of tea drinking and engagement with the brand.

In collaboration with Piercy&Company, we designed a subtly illuminated window display for cosmetics brand Kiehl’s as part of the RIBA Regent Street Windows competition. The sculptural installation represents the story of sustainably sourced quinoa husks, a key ingredient used in Kiehl’s products.
An arrangement of some 160 handcrafted ceramic husks, each holding a tiny light source, creates a delicately lit, textured display. Reflecting both craft and concept, the visually compelling installation was recognised with the competition’s award for Best Design.
